Hey Larry, That was great. The concept was excellent. It was smart and direct to the point. Just like sky, it was clear. You are right about teachers need to improve the technology skills. Professor Bachenheimer is pushing me and I would imagine others in the class to move forward and faster with technology more than we want to. I didn’t expect to learn all this technology in this course, but I am glad that I am getting it. Again, your video was excellent!
By the way, took me four days to figure out how to do this.
Great job Larry! Doesnt matter who or how many help, as long as the job gets done. It is great to see a veteran teacher like yourself sees the importance in changing the way things use to be done and adapting to the present time. Congrats on a job well done.
I have to commend you for your commitment and dedication to learning new material. You are proving your own statement "you cant teach "old" dogs, new tricks" wrong! I think our classrooms would be a lot flatter if more veteran teachers like yourself embraced technology as you are doing evidenced by your blogs and video.
Larry- First, I love the song choice. Van Halen rocks. More importantly, I can tell that the contest wasn't just as assignment for you, you are "walking the talk" about change and why it is important. Well done.
I particularly liked the "compete, connect, collaborate". And I have been impressed by the positive attitude that you, and many classmates, have chosen to project. Keep the faith!
Nice job! The world is flattening for sure. I agree we must improve, adapt and overcome. Standardized tests are definitely not preparing our students. We need to incorporate high concept high touch approaches. As you pointed out, our world is changing so fast we do not know what jobs will become or where they will come from, however we must be creative imaginative, and right brain thinkers. Nice incorporation of technology. It is important to understand that computers are and will continue to advance, and if we do not do something they may take over things we could have done if we just took the time to identify those areas. Good point about teachers. Teachers need to be on top of changes so that students can benefit from our knowledge. Professional development is very important. You pointed out we must be willing to change. I couldn’t agree with you more. If we do not see that change is inevitable we will back ourselves in a corner which we could have very well avoided. Our children definitely depend on us. Good Work!
Great job! I am almost finished with mine and I had picked the same song. Now I am going to change it so I have a different one. Great minds think alike! :)
I agree that we are definitely going to have to use the technology available to service our students. They need to be focused on what is really going to matter to them!
Job well done! If it makes you feel any better, I'm 26 and felt like I was learning to walk on this one too. I agree with your points, especially about technology in the classroom! If educators get lost in the new waves of technology coming through, our students will suffer.
